Rugby: Italy start autumn series with Australia win

Ital started the autumn rugby test series with a 26-19 win over Australia in Udine, only the second time they had beaten the Wallabies after their first win three years ago.
Stand-out fly-half Paolo Garbisi said the victory was "beautiful and courageous".
Garbisi contributed to Italy's 26-19 victory, with his precise free kicks and the conversions for both tries, and the Azzurro commented with satisfaction on the team's performance, "a strong Italy from the first minute." "It was something we had set out to do from the start," said Toulon's fly-half, "and we wanted to start well.

We lost possession a bit towards the end of the first half, giving them a few more opportunities, which, like a great team, they capitalized on, but we managed to stay in the lead throughout.
"We made the most of our numerical superiority in the second half and did a good job defensively, holding off the Australian attack," Garbisi added.
"It was a courageous Italy side, quite precise, with a lot of heart, but with a few things to work on for the next match." The enthusiasm for their victory over Australia is the traveling companion for the Italian rugby team, who will travel from Udine to Turin by train today to begin preparations tomorrow for their second test match of November, next Saturday against South Africa.
