Italy's Jannik Sinner returned to the top of the ATP singles world rankings when it was updated on Monday after beating Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6 in the final of the Paris Masters on Sunday.
The 24-year-old regains the top spot after surrendering it to his Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz when he lost to him in the US Open final in September.
Sinner became the first Italian to top the ranking in June 2024 and went on to stay at the helm for 65 weeks.
Sinner has 11,500 points and Alcaraz has 11,250 so the ATP Finals in Turin are set to decide who will be at the top of the rankings at the end of the year.
"I'm extremely happy, the past couple of months have been amazing," said four-time Grand Slam-winner Sinner.
"We try to work on things and seeing this result makes me incredibly happy.
Another title this year.
"It's been an amazing year regardless of what comes in Turin."
