ZAGREB, 8 Sept (Hina) - The 7th Croatian Walking Festival drew more than 1,800 participants from Croatia and 25 countries this past weekend, making it the largest edition yet. The Lika-Senj County Tourist Board hailed the event as proof that Lika has become a top destination for active tourism.
Walkers from countries including South Korea, Japan, the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria explored the region's natural and cultural landmarks.
"Every participant becomes an ambassador for Lika and Croatia," said Ivan Radošević, director of the Tourist Board.
The festival showcased new routes, including "Tesla Trails" through Smiljan to the Nikola Tesla Memorial Centre, and "Starčević Trails" leading to the Dr. Ante Starčević Memorial House in Veliki Žitnik.
Organisers emphasised that the festival combines nature, history, and community, reinforcing its status as one of the world's leading active tourism events.
