TIRANA, Sept 8 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stressed on Monday that the full commitment of our diplomatic service is essential to achieving the historic goal of joining the European Union.
In his remarks at the three-day conference of Albanian ambassadors worldwide, Rama emphasized that this year’s event comes at a crucial moment in Albania’s EU accession journey. He stressed that all diplomatic efforts—whether in Brussels or other capitals—must be fully dedicated to this historic goal, which is now closer than ever. Success hinges on completing the negotiation process and securing ratification of the accession by all 27 EU member state parliaments.
Rama emphasized that these four years, aligned with this agenda, are critical and not a single day should be wasted. He stressed the urgency of laying the groundwork to mobilize support ahead of the European Council’s upcoming decision on Albania’s EU membership.
Regarding the negotiations, Rama stated that they are conducted on a bilateral basis between the Republic of Albania and the European Commission. However, he added, “the overall atmosphere surrounding them carries its own significance and is certainly influential, as demonstrated by various factors in the past.”
Rama highlighted that the ongoing work of our diplomatic service is essential, particularly in strategic European countries, where consistently fostering positive relations between Albania, policymakers, and public opinion is critically important.
Rama stressed that “this conference is held at a moment when Albania’s standing on the international stage is stronger than ever, and its reputation as a rising, developing nation and trusted regional partner is a valuable asset at every international forum—one that must be strategically utilized to advance Albania’s vision for 2030 and beyond.”
