ANSA - US Open: Sinner crushes Musetti to reach semi-finals

'It's beautiful to be Italian' says world number one

Italy's world number one Jannik Sinner crushed his 10th-seeded compatriot Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the semi-finals of the men's singles at the US Open on Wednesday.
"We know each other very well," Sinner said after winning the first-ever all-Italian men's quarter-final in a Grand Slam.
"We are from the same country.

We have so many Italian players every time in the draw.

I know here, there are many Italians, so it's nice to play here.
"Obviously playing Davis Cup together and stuff like this, we have to take the friendship away for the match and then obviously when we shake hands, everything is fine," added the 24-year-old, who faces 25th-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the last four.
"From my point of view, it was a great performance, very solid".
When asked what the match meant for Italian tennis, Sinner replied: "we are very proud to be Italian. Italians are everywhere. It's beautiful to be Italian".
