ATA - Over 13,000 phytosanitary certificates issued for export of plant-based products

TIRANA, Aug 26 /ATA/ The phytosanitary certificate guarantees the quality and safety of plant exports and plant-based products destined for the EU and other countries worldwide.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, announced today that over 13,000 phytosanitary certificates have been issued for shipments of plants, plant products, and other export goods during the January-June 2025 period.

According to Minister Denaj, this figure represents a 19% increase compared to the same period last year, reflecting the commitment of farmers and processors to meeting phytosanitary standards in accordance with EU legislation.
Phytosanitary certificates are now available online, streamlining the process for exporters, shortening wait times, and maintaining quality standards for agricultural products in export shipments.

Manually filling out the phytosanitary certificate and performing monitoring usually takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. By comparison, the online procedure for all exporting economic operators takes less than 10 minutes.
