ANSA - Tourists increase 9.3% in August compared to 2024

15.6 million arrivals, 8.3 million foreigners

The number of Italian and foreign tourists increased by 9.3% in Italy in August compared to 2024, the interior ministry said Wednesday.
From August 1 to 18, it said, Italy received over 15.5 million tourists, 9.3% more than the same period last year.
This figure emerges from the presence registrations in the Ministry of the Interior's 'Alloggiati web' database.
In the first half of the month, the ministry reports, 15,663,336 arrivals were recorded, compared to 14,332,458 in 2024.
There were 7,332,808 Italians and 8,330,528 foreigners, compared to 6,791,760 and 7,540,698, respectively, in 2024.
The "Alloggiati web" database is managed by the State Police and allows managers of accommodation facilities, both hotels and non-hotels, to fulfill their obligation to transmit the personal details of guests staying at their facility to the competent police headquarters within 24 hours of their arrival.
