Greek exports dropped in June by 358.7 million euros or -8.3pct and reached 3.94 billion euros, against 4.30 billion euros the same month of the year in 2024, according to an analysis of the Panhellenic Exporters Association and its Center for Export Research and Studies on Thursday.
Based on provisional data by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), and excluding oil products, there was a rise of exports (3.7 pct), resulting in exports reaching 3.07 billion euros from 2.96 billion euros - or a growth of 108.8 million euros in the month of June 2025 compared to the same month last year.
On the other hand, the Association said in its analysis of provisional data that imports grew in June 2025 by 6.4 pct or 423.4 million euros and reached 7.08 billion euros against 6.66 billion euros during the same month of 2024. Excluding oils, imports of goods totaled 5.73 billion euros, from 5.17 billion euros, an increase of 560.9 million euros or 10.9 pct.
The trade deficit widened in June 2025 by 33.2 pct or 782.1 million euros to 3.14 billion euros in June 2025 from 2.36 billion euros the same month in 2024. Excluding oil products, the trade deficit shows a smaller gap, by 452.1 million euros (20.5 pct). In the January-June period, the trade deficit fell slightly by -1.3 pct to 16.54 billion euros from 16.76 billion euros in the first half of 2024. Excluding oil products, the deficit increased by 3.6 to 13.96 billion euros from 13.48 billion euros, rising by 479.7 million euros.
Greek exports fell to all destinations, dropping 3.5 pct to EU member-states and 14.4 pct to third countries. Excluding oil products, Greek exports grew 4.8 pct to the EU and by 1.5 pct to third countries, compared to the same month in 2024.
Foods (10.2 pct), Industrials (4.3 pct), Chemicals (4.1 pct), Various Industrials (18 pct), Drink and Tobacco (12.5 pct) and Table Oils (3.3 pct) recorded the biggest percentage increase among export product categories, while Oils/Fuels (-29 pct), Machinery (-15.3 pct), Raw Materials (-8.3 pct) and low-value exports of Confidential Products (-65 pct) suffered losses in June. In the first half, all categories recorded increases with the exception of Oils/Fuels (-25.8 pct), Machinery (-0.7 pct), and low-value exports of Confidential Products (-75.9 pct).
