NNA - The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Beirut said, in a statement: 'To observe Youm-e-Istehsal and demonstrate unwavering solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Embassy of Pakistan in Beirut held a webinar on 5 August 2025. The event commemorated six years since India’s illegal and unilateral decision to revoke Article 370 on 5 August 2019, which removed IIOJK’s special constitutional status and intensified the region’s occupation.
The webinar was attended by members of the Lebanese academic community, and representatives of think tanks of Lebanon. Notable speakers included Prof. Dr. Imad Rizk, Director of the Istisharia Centre for Strategic Studies, Dr. Kamal Tarhini, a Lebanese political analyst, and Mr. Firas Al Shoufi, a senior Lebanese journalist.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Salman Athar highlighted the continued illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India and the worsening human rights situation there. He underscored the sufferings of the Kashmiri people, which have escalated since August 2019 due to brutal crackdowns, media blackouts, arbitrary detentions and the denial of fundamental rights by Indian occupation forces.
The speakers unanimously stressed that the Kashmir conflict, like Palestine, remains a pressing global issue and called upon the United Nations and influential international actors to actively facilitate a peaceful resolution. They voiced full support for the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
The webinar concluded with a collective reaffirmation of support for the people of IIOJK, and a call for an end to India’s repressive policies and human rights violations, which over the past years have reached unprecedented levels.'' -- Embassy of Pakistan in Lebanon
