Gianluca Rocchi, the referee selector for Serie A and Italian soccer's second tier Serie B, said Tuesday that officials here will be able to explain decisions made with the help of VAR live to fans at the stadium next season.
    "The big innovation next season will be on-field announcements," Rocchi said.
    "The referee will be able to explain a decision made after a VAR intervention directly in the stadium and on TV.
    "It's a major step forward in communication, which we've been committed to with transparency for years," he added, referring to post-match TV explanations he and other top officials have been giving of decisions for some time.
    "Now, however, the explanations will be in real time, in front of everyone".
