HINA - Supetar residents once again involved in planning the town budget

ZAGREB, 3 Aug (Hina) - The Town of Supetar on the southern Croatian island of Brač is once again implementing a participatory budgeting project, giving residents the opportunity to take part directly in planning part of the town budget, with a total of €70,000 available.

Mayor Ivana Marković emphasised that this process attracts more proposals and active residents each year, which she sees as confirmation that they are moving in the right direction. She called on residents to get involved, put forward their ideas and take part in the development of Supetar.

This is the third consecutive year that residents have been given the opportunity to participate directly in deciding which communal initiatives will be carried out in their street or neighbourhood. At the same time, the town administration gains a clearer understanding of needs on the ground.

The best proposals, selected following expert assessment and a public vote, are implemented in the next budget cycle. For this year, Mayor Ivana Marković has allocated €70,000 for citizen-led projects. Proposals may be submitted from 1 August to 1 September.

The Town of Supetar has stated that all submissions will undergo thorough assessment by its departments. The initiative "Your voice matters – we want your say on the budget" continues to build a model of participatory democracy in which residents are actively involved in decision-making processes.
