ZAGREB, 31 July (Hina) - Croatia is opening its doors to children from the Gaza Strip, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs announced on Thursday, emphasising "psychosocial support and education on the dangers of explosive devices".
"Croatia will open its doors to children from Gaza in the same way it did for children from Ukraine, with a focus on psychosocial support and education on the dangers of explosive devices," the ministry said in a statement.
The statement notes that Croatia has experience in this field from its 1991-1995 Homeland War and internationally recognised expertise in mine action.
The ministry said the country is ready to accept children "should the conditions be met", expressing confidence that they will be. It also noted that Croatia is already implementing projects for Ukrainian children through an open call, with around 700 children currently accommodated in Croatia.
The plan was announced by State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić at an international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian question and the implementation of the two-state solution at the United Nations headquarters.
