Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro won the mixed 3m Springboard synchro diving event on Wednesday to claim Italy's first gold medal of the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
    The Italian duo pulled off a series of superlative dives to score a total of 308.13 points and come home ahead of Australia's Rousseau and Maddison Keeney (307.26) and China's Cheng Zilong and Li Yajie, who only managed 305.70 for bronze.
    Italy had never won gold a synchro event at a world championships.
    Klaus Dibiasi won golds in the individual 10m platform in 1973 and 1975 and Tania Cagnotto won the 1m springboard in 2015.
