ZAGREB, 29 July (Hina) - The Croatian Museum of Tourism (HMT) is opening an exhibition titled "Blue Horizons - Open Sea and Coastal Vistas in Croatian Visual Art from Plein-Air Painting to Abstraction", the first in a series of exhibitions organised in collaboration with Croatian museum institutions, the HMT said.

The exhibition will showcase a selection of masterpieces from the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb.

Featured works include those by Ljubo Babić, Fran Baća, Vlaho Bukovac, Menci Clement Crnčić, Ivo Dulčić, Marta Ehrlich, Ignjat Job, Mila Kumbatović, Gustav Likan (Haueisen), Bane Milenković, Jerolim Miše, Omer Mujadžić, Edo Murtić, Dalibor Parać, Vilim Svečnjak, Slavko Šohaj, Đuro Tiljak, Emanuel Vidović, Zlatan Vrkljan and Mladen Veža.

The sea and its coastal belt are presented as a space of aesthetic inspiration, spiritual introspection, and historical transformation, ranging from plein-air fidelity to nature to abstract expressions of inner states. The paintings emphasise the colour blue, exploring its symbolism, meaning, and visual impact.

The exhibition curators are Tea Hatadi and Lorena Šimić, and the exhibition designers Lada Sega and Lorena Šimić. The exhibition will remain open until 7 September.

As part of the exhibition, on 5 September, Snježana Pintarić will give a lecture titled "The Adriatic Coast in the Works of Croatian Modernists".
