TIRANA, April 8 /ATA/ Kaja Kallas, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, said at a press conference alongside Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana that the goal of Albania’s integration into the European family by 2030 is achievable. However, it hinges on the rule of law and requires both parties to complete their “homework” throughout the process.
In answering media questions about whether Albania’s EU integration is contingent on specific reforms, including prosecution of corruption among high-ranking officials, Kallas said, “2030 is a realistic target, as long as we all take the necessary steps along the way. However, it’s not just about passing new reforms, but also about ensuring that the reforms already adopted are effectively implemented.”
“The rule of law is crucial, as it is one of the cornerstones of the EU and the foundation of a country’s prosperity. When investors have confidence in your legal system, they are more likely to invest in your economy. This is in Albania’s best interest and is achievable, as long as we all carry through our homework,” said Kallas. /j.p/sm/
