TIRANA, March 29/ATA/ There were thousands visitors to Leipzig Book Fair on its first day.
The Albanian stand was visited also by Minister of Culture and Society of Liechtenstein Manuel Frick.
Thanks to joint programs with Traduki network and the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Albanian literature is more present in the German language through various translations.
National Books and Reading Center wrote on its website that fairs of this type in Europe, where readers, authors, translators, publishing houses and literary critics come together, also serve as a form of communication between different cultures and as a presentation opportunity to convey Albanian literature in several languages of the world.
On the first day of the fair, Albanian authors Elvin Nuri, Flogerta Krypi and Mimoza Ahmeti took part in a meeting with the theme “Words, Words, Words”, which attracted the attention of readers.
Yesterday, at our stand there was held an activity with the theme “Literature and Geopolitics” on the German translation of the novel “When Rulers Quarrel” by Ismail Kadare. The panel included Joachim Rohm, Adia Sakiqi, Mimoza Ahmeti and translator Loreta Schillock.
At this roundtable, there was held a discussion on Kadare’s place in world literature, the way his works deal with the themes of power, history and freedom, as well as his role as a bridge between the East and the West. /a.f/p.s./
