ZAGREB, 24 Feb (Hina) - The Music Biennale Zagreb contemporary music festival, taking place from 5 to 12 April across multiple city locations, will showcase some of the most relevant musical movements of today, along with a series of accompanying events.
The 33rd edition explores themes of connection and innovation, spanning contemporary and experimental forms to interdisciplinary collaborations in visual arts, electronics and theatre.
Over eight days, more than 230 performers from over 30 countries, including Croatia, Australia, Hong Kong, the US, Canada, Argentina, Costa Rica, Finland, Belgium, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Germany, Romania, Turkey and Tunisia, will perform at around 20 venues.
The festival will feature over 20 programmes, including 28 world premieres of new compositions, with 12 commissioned by festival from Croatian composers and eight international commissions.
Organised by the Croatian Composers' Society, the festival presents two to four events daily, ranging from symphonic orchestras, chamber ensembles, contemporary ballet, opera and improvisational, electronic and alternative music to sound and audiovisual experiments. Additionally, the programme includes performances, exhibitions, discussions, masterclasses, film screenings and multimedia installations.
