Hellenic Seaplanes carried out its first hydroplane trial flight to Ermioni in the Argolid, inaugurating a new chapter in alternative means of transportation in Greece.
According to the company, its hydroplane flew over the Greek Riviera, flying over Porto Heli, Koilada, Spetses, Hydra, and Poros and touched down at the port of Ermioni in the Peloponnese, in the first sea landing of the area.
The flight is part of the company's strategic planning to restart the use of hydroplanes in Greece and link Ermioni with key destinations like Athens, the Aegean and Ionian islands, and Peloponnesian infrastructure (water airports) like those of Kalamata and Kyllini.
As Hellenic Seaplanes CEO Nikolas Haralambous said, the company's aim is to provide easier access from the eastern part of the Peloponnese to Greek islands and coastal areas through a contemporary, sustainable, and safe means of transport. "The experience of a hydroplane combines ease and speed, providing passengers the opportunity to enjoy short and unimpeded connections. With its natural beauty and enriched tourist nature, Ermionida is an ideal destination to promote this unique experience," he added.
According to Hellenic Seaplanes Land Operations Manager Polychronis Rontogiannis, the sea landing at Ermioni "is only the beginning." He added that the use of seaplanes brings new transportation options, contributing to the area's tourism and economic development. "We are proud to open new vistas and expand connections with the islands and coastlines of Greece, establishing Ermionida as a new transport hub," he underlined.
