APS - Paris Paralympic Games: Nassima Saifi offers Algeria first gold medal

PARIS- Algerian Nassima Saifi won the gold medal in the discus throw event (F57) with a throw of 35m55, on Sunday at Saint- Denis stadium as part of the second day of the Para-athletic events of the 17th Paralympic Games of Paris (28 August-8 September).

The Algerian who already holds the world record for the event has just shattered her own Paralympic record set at the 2016 Rio Paralympics once again, ahead of China's Xu Mian (32.81m) and Uzbekistan's Khamdamova Mokhigul (32.75m).

Participating also in the final of the discus throw (F57) event, her compatriot Safia Djelal finished the competition eighth with a throw of 29m17.

For his part, Samir Nouioua finished in the sixth position in the 1500m (T46) event, clocking 3:57.30, while Bakhta Benallou ranked 8 th in the javelin throw (F13) event with a throw of 29m63.
