ALGIERS-The Algerian Company of Electrical and Gas Industries (SAIEG), subsidiary of Sonelgaz Group, has carried out its first export operation of charging stations for electric vehicle to Italy and Libya, Sonelgaz announced on Sunday.

In a statement to the press, the groups spokesperson, Khalil Hedna explained that this “export operation, the first of its kind, is part of a contract to export 433 locally-manufactured charging stations to Italy and Libya. The stations have a 60-kW capacity and 322-kW fast charging capabilities, meeting the current international standards.”

Hedna stressed that the creation of a plant of electric vehicle charging stations, under SAIEG, comes in implementation of the Algerian State’s commitments in terms of energy transition and contributes to the diversification of foreign exchange sources through non-hydrocarbon exports.

Negotiations are currently at an advanced stage to conclude several agreements so as to export other quantities of charging stations to European and Middle Eastern countries, he said. 

He added that these charging stations are manufactured by SAIEG, which is Sonelgaz’s industrial branch, with a local integration rate currently estimated at 58% - a figure expected to rise in the near future.
