NNA - Supporting Children with Cancer beyond treatment: Embrace and CCCL sign a Memorandum of Understanding

NNA – Embrace and the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon (CCCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding launching a joint psychosocial support program that aims to provide comprehensive mental health care for children and adolescents undergoing cancer treatment, as well as psychological support for their parents and caregivers.

The partnership brings together CCCL's established expertise in pediatric cancer care and the wellness services it provides with Embrace's specialized expertise in psychotherapy and psychiatry, ensuring that mental health is addressed alongside medical treatment. With the support of AG Fund, the program will provide additional psychosocial support to newly enrolled patients and their primary caregivers, helping ensure that families have access to appropriate emotional and mental health support throughout the treatment journey.

Under the program, newly enrolled patients and their primary caregivers will receive initial follow-up to identify their psychosocial needs, after which they will be offered support tailored to those needs.

Services include individual and group support sessions, psychiatric evaluation when needed, dedicated caregiver support, crisis response pathways, and access to the National Lifeline 1564, operated by Embrace in collaboration with the National Mental Health Programme.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving the quality of life of children and families facing cancer, and to contributing to the development of an integrated model of psychosocial care within pediatric oncology in Lebanon.

By combining clinical expertise, capacity building, and evidence-based practices, both organizations aim to ensure that no family faces the emotional challenges of cancer alone.
