NNA - UNIFIL Commander, General Diodato Abagnara, called for serious efforts to prevent any security vacuum in southern Lebanon, stressing the need to create the best possible conditions for maintaining stability in coordination with the United Nations, Lebanese authorities, relevant stakeholders and the international community.

Speaking during the Southern Women’s Home-Products Exhibition organized by the Municipality of Tyre on Sunday, Abagnara said UNIFIL has three months remaining until the end of the year, when its current mission is due to conclude, adding, "We must work from now on, day by day, to create the conditions we desire for the coming phase."

Abagnara said he would remain in Lebanon as long as his presence was needed in support of peace and stability, describing his work alongside local communities as an honor. He emphasized that UNIFIL’s role is ultimately to serve and support the people.

He called for continued cooperation and determination, saying that a better future could only be achieved through collective efforts. He also stressed the importance of unity in working toward peace and security.

Abagnara highlighted the role of women in society, describing their support and participation as essential to building a more stable future. He thanked the media for its coverage of UNIFIL’s activities and for supporting its work.

Following a tour of the exhibition, Tyre Mayor Hassan Dbouk thanked General Abagnara for attending and praised UNIFIL’s role in supporting the peace process and providing assistance to the local community.

During his tour, Abagnara also distributed gifts to the women participating in the exhibition.
