ANNABA - The Minister of State, Minister of hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, alongside Abdelkader Djellaoui, Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, and Mourad Hanifi, Minister of Mines and Mining Industries, oversaw Wednesday evening in Annaba, the official launch ceremony for the construction of the mining terminal’s port facilities as part of the integrated phosphate project at the local port.

After reviewing the technical presentation for the phosphate port expansion project, alongside the accompanying ministerial delegation, Annaba Governor Abdelkrim Lamouri, local authority representatives, and Sonatrach Group CEO Nourredine Daoudi, Arkab noted that this operation is part of the field monitoring of the various components of the integrated phosphate project, as the port facility works represent the final link in the project's logistics chain, responsible for receiving and shipping enriched phosphate, fertilizers, and related products to national, regional and international markets.

He further emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination among the various relevant sectors and institutions, and of strengthening on-site monitoring of the work, while ensuring an accelerated pace of execution and the resolution of any obstacles that might impede the project's progress.

Furthermore, he issued instructions to the executing Companies to intensify on-site monitoring and enhance continuous coordination among all stakeholders, thereby ensuring the rapid resolution of identified issues, accelerating the pace of work, and completing the various project components within the set deadlines.

Arkab also highlighted that the construction of these facilities is part of an integrated industrial and logistical vision linking Bled El Hadba mine (Bir El Ater) and Oued Keberit chemical processing complex (Souk Ahras) with the railway network and port facilities at Annaba.

This ensures the integration of the various stages, from phosphate extraction and beneficiation to processing and the production of fertilizers and chemical products, culminating in their transport, marketing, and the export of the surplus to international markets.
