Sarah Rizea, an 18-year-old synchronized swimmer of Romanian heritage who calls Savona home, is the new Miss Italia 2026.
    Rizea was crowned Monday night at Santa Severa Castle north of Rome, winning the national title after entering the final as Miss Liguria.
    "Sarah is not just the new Miss Italia; she is one of our own—a synchronized swimmer shaped by the discipline and quiet sacrifices that artistic swimming demands every day," said Alessandro Martin, President of Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) Liguria.
    "The grace and strength she displayed on stage are the same qualities she built up race after race, breath after breath, far from the spotlight." "Sarah embodies talent, commitment, and determination," said Liguria Regional Tourism Councilor Luca Lombardi, "qualities she has cultivated through sport and the sacrifices required by high-level competitive athletics."
