The Armani fashion house said Wednesday that it has appointed Dario Vitale the new creative director of Giorgio Armani Accessories and of the Emporio Armani line.
    The Italian fashion designer is the first person to hold the role outside the family of founder Giorgio Armani, who died aged 91 last year.
    Vitale's last job was a brief stint at the creative helm of Versace.
    He has also worked for Dsquared2, Bottega Veneta and Miu Miu.
    The Armani group said Vitale has "significant experience in the fashion industry, working with leading companies and developing a keen sensitivity to product, quality, consistency, and contemporaneity.
    "His arrival marks the beginning of a new chapter in the brand's history, consolidating the group's creative structure and guiding its evolution, while respecting the aesthetic vision that has always distinguished the Giorgio Armani name," it said.
