Both the number of migrants coming to Italy and the number of people leaving the country to live abroad decreased last year, according to provisional data released by Istat on Monday.
    The national statistics agency said the outflow decreased by 30,000 compared to 2024, while total arrivals fell from 452,000 to 440,000, a decrease of 12,000 (-2.6%).
    The drop in incoming flows regarded both the return of Italians from abroad, down from 58,000 to 56,000, and the arrival of foreigners, which fell from 393,000 to 383,000.
    Legal migrant flows from Morocco were up 48% Istat said.
