TIRANA, Aug 1 /ATA/  The Ethnographic Museum of Berat has welcomed more than 1,200 visitors in just six weeks since reopening, with over 80% of them foreign tourists from across the globe.

State Minister for Local Government Ervin Demo highlighted the museum’s importance as one of the key cultural heritage landmarks in the city of Berat.

“Some places are meant to be experienced rather than merely visited, and the Ethnographic Museum of Berat is one of them. In just six weeks since reopening, it has welcomed more than 1,200 visitors, with over 80% coming from abroad and representing every continent. Each visitor who walks through its doors gains a glimpse into the soul of Berat through the traditions, hospitality, culture and history that have been preserved and handed down across generations,” Demo said.

According to Demo, the strong interest shown by visitors underscores the role of Albania’s cultural heritage in promoting the country as a tourist destination.

Berat is not just a beautiful city – it is a living story reflected in every cobbled street, every traditional house and every artefact carefully preserved at the Ethnographic Museum,” Demo said.

He stressed that preserving and promoting cultural heritage remains a key element in the development of tourism and in strengthening the country’s historical and cultural identity.
