ALGIERS - The foundations of a victorious new Algeria are being consolidated through the glorious achievements and victories of the liberating Revolution, driven by the values of sacrifice, resistance, unity, and the cohesion of the Algerian people, El Djeïch magazine highlighted in its latest issue.
"Amid an atmosphere of pride and jubilation, we are celebrating this month the 64th anniversary of independence, achieved on 5th July 1962," El Djeïch wrote in an editorial titled "Sincere National Will: Faithful to the Pledge."
"On this glorious day, the will of the Algerian people triumphed over one of the most powerful destructive powers of its time. Our people forced it to submit and recognise our right to freedom and dignity, following a momentous revolution, that will remain forever immortal in the hearts of Algerians, generation after generation. A revolution deeply rooted in the record of human history as the greatest liberating epic of the twentieth century, having defeated the tyranny of the brutal coloniser and shattered its arrogance," the magazine added.
The publication emphasized that this "confirmed that rights will return to their rightful owners, even after a century and 32 years of injustice, tyranny, and oppression. The price was very high, paid by millions of righteous Chouhada, orphans, widows, grieving mothers, and disabled."
"As we celebrate this immortal anniversary, duty calls us to recall what our ancestors paid in precious sacrifices to restore stolen freedom. It also compels us to follow in their footsteps, walk their path, and remain faithful to them," El Djeïch continued.
The editorial elaborated: "A fidelity that requires preserving their legacy, the immense gift of recovered national sovereignty we enjoy today, for which they made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. This is the path taken by the country's high authorities, led by the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense. Their tireless efforts aim to ensure our country's security and stability, strengthen the independence of our sovereign decision-making, and consolidate the state's power factors across all dimensions: political, economic, social, and security."
El Djeich's editorial noted that "the important achievements and gains witnessed by our country today in various fields, alongside the prestigious regional and international position it now occupies, embody this noble endeavour. This rests on a clear and insightful vision based on wisely investing in national capabilities. It aims to build a strong, wealth-producing economy, develop basic infrastructure, and enhance water, food, energy and digital security. This consecrates our sovereignty and fortifies our country against various challenges."
"More than sixty years is a negligible period in the life of nations. Yet, what Algeria has achieved in recent years while pursuing its ambitious revival path confirms beyond doubt the ability of Algerians to make miracles. They can rise to all challenges and win various bets," the publication emphasized.
El Djeich highlighted the remarks made by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his message marking the 64th anniversary of independence, in which he said: "We are deeply proud to see that the spirit of the New Algeria, built on sincere national resolve, draws its strength from faithfulness to the pledge made to the valiant Martyrs. We are fully confident that the people, the crucible of the triumphant Algeria, strengthened by their sovereign choices and unprecedented achievements, are determined to pursue change and reinforce sustainable, comprehensive development, and are aware of the strategic stakes of the current phase, which will soon place the country on the threshold of emerging countries."
The magazine also stressed that "the glorious acts and victories achieved by our Glorious Liberation Revolution are underpinned by the values of sacrifice, resistance, unity of ranks, and cohesion demonstrated by the Algerian people, who built their glory with their own hands. It is on these same values that the foundations of the triumphant New Algeria are being consolidated."
"Consolidating national independence in all its dimensions and strengthening the country's immunity require the mobilization of all Algerians, all the energies and vital forces of the country." "While defending the homeland is an obligation for every citizen, one that cannot be shirked under any pretext, contributing to strengthening the foundations of its sovereignty and comprehensive renewal is a sacred duty dictated by a sense of belonging to our homeland, faithfulness to the sacrifices of our glorious Shouhada and the principles that guided their struggle for freedom."
The magazine added that these "are principles that call on us to make them a beacon guiding Algeria on its path of progress, development, and prosperity."
El Djeich emphasized that, "aware that security and stability remain the solid foundations on which development rests and renewal is achieved, the People's National Army, the worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, continues to make efforts to consolidate the pillars of national sovereignty and preserve the country's territorial integrity and the unity of its people."
"Driven by unwavering determination in carrying out their missions with full responsibility, loyalty, and dedication, PNA personnel are inspired by the values of selflessness, courage, and patriotism upheld by their valiant predecessors, who succeeded in making history, thereby immortalizing the spirit of sacrifice, courage, and altruism of the Algerian people," Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, said in his address at the annual rank and medal awarding ceremony.
The magazine highlighted General Chanegriha’s remarks, in which he said that "this historic date will remain a source of inspiration for our army, which will continue to carry out its constitutional missions under the high direction of the President of the Republic, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, and in keeping with its republican convictions, as well as the foundations of the Glorious November 1st Revolution and the values of its valiant Shouhada," adding that "in carrying out these noble missions, our army embodies the awareness of a people forged by revolutions and capable of surpassing the limits of the impossible, standing as a proud branch, perpetually nourished by the memory of its roots."
"On this occasion, we will not fail to bow humbly to the memory of all our glorious Shouhada, those of the popular resistance movements, of our Glorious Liberation Revolution and of national duty, who wrote pages of glory and pride with their pure blood; just as we extend our respectful greetings to our valiant Mujahideen, as well as to all personnel of the People's National Army and the various security corps who safeguard Algeria's tranquility and stability," El Djeich magazine concluded.
