ANSA - Digital piracy cost Italian business €2.3 bn in 2025 - report

Percentage of Italians who access pirated audio-video content down to 37%

The digital piracy of audio and video content, such as films, TV series, and live sports, cost Italian businesses around 2.3 billion euros in lost revenue last year, according to a study by the Ispos institute for the Fapav federation of multimedia companies.
It said this also amounts to lost tax revenue of 408 million euros, and the loss of approximately 11,100 jobs.
It said 37% of the Italian population engaged in some form of online piracy in 2025, down 4% on the previous year, thanks largely to "a downward trend that is particularly pronounced among the very young".
