APS - Launch of "DigiEnR" project to digitize renewable energy integration, bolster Algerian-German cooperation

ALGIERS- An agreement was signed, in Algiers, to implement the "DigiEnR" project, which focuses on digitizing the integration of renewable energy into the national electricity system, between the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), during a planning workshop dedicated to the project, according to a statement from the ministry.

The signing ceremony took place last Monday, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energy, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Algeria, as well as representatives of relevant national institutions and agencies, including Sonelgaz, the Electricity and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG), and the High Commission for Digitalization (HCN).

The "DigiEnR" project aims to support Algeria’s efforts to integrate renewable energy into the national electricity grid by developing digital solutions for grid management and improving energy planning tools, as well as to prepare the electricity infrastructure to accommodate increasing capacities of clean energy.

The project is also part of strengthening the Algerian-German cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in the fields of digitalization, modernization of electricity networks, exchange of expertise, and development of technical and institutional capacities.
