HINA - Ministry: Average net pay for academic staff at universities from €1,461 to €3,376

ZAGREB, 13 May (Hina) - Croatian Science and Education Ministry published figures on the salaries in the science and higher education system for March, with the lowest wage, amounting to €1,432 net, paid to research assistants, while those with the title "Distinguished Professor" received €3,371 net.

The data published on the Ministry’s website show that the average salary of a research assistant, with an average age of 32, amounted to €2,101 gross, or €1,461 net (the median salary was €2,060 gross, equivalent to €1,432 net).

Postdoctoral fellows/researchers, with an average age of 36, received an average wage of €2,691 gross, or €1,852 net (the median salary was €2,678 gross, or €1,834 net).

Assistant professors, with an average age of 44, received an average gross salary of €3,156, equivalent to €2,181 net (the median salary was €3,133 gross, or €2,173 net).

Associate professors, with an average age of 47, received an average salary of €3,717 gross, or €2,559 net (the median salary was €3,686 gross, or €2,554 net).

Full professors, with an average age of 52, received an average salary of €4,302 gross, or €2,929 net (the median salary was €4,277 gross, or €2,924 net).

Distinguished professors, that is full professors with permanent tenure, with an average age of 58, received an average salary of €5,071 gross, equivalent to €3,376 net (the median salary amounted to €5,071 gross, or €3,371 net).

The Ministry of Science, Education and Youth said on Monday the average gross monthly salary of teachers stood at €2,443 for March, equivalent to €1,712 net, while senior “excellent adviser” teachers earned an average of €3,484 gross, or €2,374 net.
