The Dutch cruise ship MS Hondius, where, following the outbreak of acute respiratory syndrome on board, three people have died and three others are showing symptoms. The ship is anchored off the coast of the city of Praia, on the island of Santiago, Cape Verde, 04 May 2026. The MS Hondius entered Cape Verdean waters on Sunday, and the archipelago’s health authorities are monitoring it following an international notification of a respiratory disease outbreak on board, with severe cases and deaths reported.
