NNA - The National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), represented by its President, First Lady Nehmat Aoun, signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), represented by Resident Representative Ms. Blerta Aliko, in the presence of Vice President Ambassador Sahar Baasiri Salam, commission members, and a UNDP delegation.
The agreement aims to promote gender equality and empower women and girls in Lebanon, achieving inclusive, rights-based development outcomes in line with national priorities and international commitments.
The MoU seeks to strengthen coordination and partnership between the NCLW and UNDP in areas of mutual interest, including increasing women’s participation in politics and leadership, supporting women’s and girls’ economic empowerment, raising awareness and advocacy on women’s rights in personal status laws, and developing institutional capacities to enhance policies, legislation, and programs that advance gender equality.
