ANSA - Lazio to face Inter in Italian Cup final after shoot-out win over Atalanta

21-year-old goalkeeper Edoardo Motta saved four spot-kicks

Lazio will face Inter in the Italian Cup at their home ground, Rome's Stadio Olimpico, on May 13, after a shoot-out victory at Atalanta in the second-leg of the semi on Wednesday.
The Rome side's hero was 21-year-old goalkeeper Edoardo Motta, who saved four consecutive penalties in the shoot-out, enabling Lazio to win it 2-1 despite missing two of their own spot-kicks.
Motta had also produced a remarkable save with the tips of his fingers to deny Atalanta's Italy forward Gianluca Scamacca before the shoot-out.
The score was 1-1 at the end of regulation time and extra time, with Mario Pasalic finding the target in the 86th minute to cancel out Alessio Romagnoli's goal for Lazio two minutes before.
The first leg had ended 2-2.
Atalanta did most of the running during the match and had two goals disallowed.
The first, when the score was 0-0, was ruled out after the VAR review, with Atalanta's Nikola Krstovic judged to have fouled Motto while poking the ball to Ederson for him to touch home from close range.
The Bergamo side were furious at the decision, saying there was no foul because Motta was not in control of the ball and, even if had been right to disallow the goal, they should have had a penalty for handball by Lazio defender Gila.
A goal by Giacomo Raspadori during extra time was scrubbed for offside.
Serie A leaders Inter are on course for a domestic double after they staged a dramatic comeback to beat Como 3-2 at San Siro on Tuesday in the other semi.
