An inflation rate of 1.8%-2.2% is possible in Italy in 2026, Istat said Friday.
The inflation forecast for 2026, as acquired in March, is +1.5% and is the hypothetical rate that would be achieved in the event of zero monthly changes for the rest of the year, said the stats agency.
Assuming "moderate dynamics," with price increases of 0.1% on a monthly basis from April to the end of the year, average inflation in 2026 would be 1.8%.
With "slightly stronger" quarterly growth of 0.2% for the coming months, the inflation rate would be 2.2% for the full year.
These are the projections presented by Istat at a press conference, which emphasized that they are in line with business expectations.
