NNA - UNESCO Director-General,Khaled El-Enany condemns the killing of journalists Ali Shaib, Fatima Ftouni and Mohammad Ftouni in Lebanon

NNA - Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of UNESCO, has condemned the killing of journalists Ali Shaib, Fatima Ftouni and Mohammad touni in Jezzine, Southern Lebanon, on 28 March 2026.

El-Enany condemned the killing of journalists All Shaib, Fatima Ftouni and Mohammad Ftouni and called for an independent and thorough investigation into the cincumstances. "I reiterate my call for the respect of UN Secunty Council Resolution 2222 unanimously adopted in 2015 on the protection of journalists, media professionals and assaciated personnel as civilians in situations of confict, a status reaffied in the Pact for the Future," said Khaled El-Enany, UNESCO Director-General.

El-Enanai said in a statement, "Ali Shaib worked as a joumalist for Al-Maner TV, while Fatima Flouni worked for Al-Mayadeen TV. Mohammad Flouni, who was Fatima's brother, worked as a freelance photojournalist. They were reportedly killed while travelling on assignment, when their car was struck along the Jezzine Highway in Southern Lebanon.
