TIRANA, April 4 /ATA/ On the eve of Catholic Easter, Archbishop Arjan Dodaj of Tirana–Durrës delivered an inspirational message to believers and citizens. He emphasised that from the oldest to the youngest, Albanians must nurture a sense of belonging and identity. Dodaj said being Albanian is not a matter of slogans or propaganda, but a heritage passed down through centuries and a responsibility owed to future generations.
On the eve of Catholic Easter, Archbishop Arjan Dodaj of Tirana–Durrës highlighted the importance of hope and civic as well as political responsibility.
He told believers and citizens that Easter liberates people from this rationale recalling that just as Christ did not remain in the tomb but opened a new path beyond death, no situation is without hope. Dodaj said the light of God invites people to believe that change is possible and begins in the human heart today—in my heart, in your heart.” Quoting Mother Teresa, he added: “Be the change you expect and wish to see in Albania.”
Archbishop Dodaj appealed to both political leaders and citizens to act with integrity and responsibility. He said the sun does not rise only for a few, stressing that Albania needs honest men and women who love the country and its people not merely in words but through concrete actions. Archbishop Dodaj underlined that the country’s resources are a common inheritance, entrusted by God as both a blessing and a responsibility. He stressed that accountability will be required for their stewardship, adding that Albanians are called to act as administrators rather than proprietors of the nation and its wealth.
On the eve of Catholic Easter, the faithful will attend the Vigil Mass at St Paul’s Cathedral in Tirana, led by Archbishop. The service is scheduled to begin at 21:45 and is expected to conclude at approximately 01:30 on Sunday morning.
