ANNABA – More than 15,000 tons of rebar have been loaded at the Port of Annaba as part of an export operation to Lithuania, the Annaba Port company said Saturday in a statement.
The company said that the loading operation onto the "Nassauborg" ship took place at quay No. 7 on behalf of the Algerian Qatar steel company, based in Jijel.
According to the statement, the operation involved the mobilization of the port’s various technical and logistical resources, in coordination with relevant stakeholders, to ensure the loading was conducted under proper organizational conditions.
The operation forms part of Algeria’s efforts to boost non-hydrocarbon exports by supporting economic operators and facilitating access for industrial products, notably steel, to international markets, particularly European ones, where demand for such products is growing.
This initiative also highlights "the capacities of Algerian ports, including the Port of Annaba, in terms of managing large-scale loading operations and providing suitable conditions for operators, thereby contributing to enhancing the presence of the Algerian products in foreign markets, supporting economic diversification, and promoting exports," the statement added.
