ALGIERS - Algeria's First National Data Center, located in Mohammadia (Algiers), has been awarded the Tier III Design certification by the Uptime Institute, reflecting the "technical maturity and institutional readiness" that the strategic facility has achieved "with distinction," according to a statement released Sunday by the High Commission for Digitalization.

"As part of implementing the objectives of the National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Algeria, particularly its first pillar relating to the basic information and communication technology infrastructure, and in order to consolidate standards of excellence in technological infrastructure, the First National Data Center (Data Center 1) in Mohammadia has obtained the Tier III Design classification certification issued by the Uptime Institute," said the source.

This achievement, the statement added, reflects "the technical maturity and institutional readiness that this strategic facility has attained with distinction."

The Tier III Design classification is described as "an internationally recognized benchmark confirming that the infrastructure meets the highest standards of reliability and continuity, ensuring maintenance without service interruption and delivering advanced levels of security and operational readiness," the source said.

The source underlined that this accreditation represents "the culmination of a rigorous technical and engineering process, built on a comprehensive infrastructure design and the deployment of advanced solutions to ensure business continuity, with all components subjected to strict evaluation criteria aligned with global best practices."

In this regard, the High Commission for Digitalization reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the Construction Tier III Facility Certification, which would be the first of its kind in Algeria, as a continuation of its accreditation journey and a further step toward strengthening reliability and operational readiness in line with international standards.

The Commission is also working toward obtaining the Tier III Design certification for the Second National Data Center in the province of Blida (Data Center 2), the statement added.
