ALGIERS – The entry into operation of the Gara Djebilet iron mine in Tindouf and the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Bechar western railway line represents a cornerstone for the new Algeria's vision for a promising and ambitious future, according to the documentary "Awakening of the Giant" produced by Algerian Television under the supervision of the Presidency's General Directorate of Communication.

The documentary, which was viewed by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and his accompanying delegation on Sunday in Bechar, during the inauguration of the Western mining railway line linking Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Bechar, showcased the various stages of implementing these two projects, which were transformed from dream to tangible reality through "bold decisions and meticulous oversight by the President of the Republic.

The mine and western mining railway contribute to "achieving a major economic breakthrough for Algeria" by "mastering the harsh conditions of our vast south and unlocking miracles in an Algeria of challenges."

They also stand as "keys to renaissance and future prosperity," upon which the new, triumphant Algeria places its aspirations.

The documentary traced the liberation struggle's expansion southward, which "halted French colonial plundering of our resources, including minerals."

Experts emphasized these strategic projects are "among the most significant infrastructure developments since independence," delivering "enhanced sovereignty, regional connectivity, and new economic prospects" alongside "social revitalization and thousands of jobs."

The projects also send, experts said, "a clear global signal that the new and triumphant Algeria is diversifying its economy well beyond oil and gas."

The documentary also showcased how workers and executives from construction companies, including female personnel, rose to the challenge of delivering both projects in record time under extremely difficult natural conditions.
