Juan María CALVO was born in Madrid, on the 28th March 1954 and obtained a degree in Journalism and in Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid.

In 1981 Mr. Calvo joined Agencia Efe, working as correspondent in Equatorial Guinea, Israel, Bolivia and as special envoy for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Amongst other significant events, Mr. Calvo covered the Iran-Iraq War and the first Gulf War.

Since 1996, Mr. Calvo has been working at the Foreing Desk and has been the Manager for the past years.
