NNA - Non formal learning: A chance for Change?
NNA - Learning is associated with books, memorizing, strict teachers and exams. The conference, which was held on December 10, 2018 in Lebanon, "Hit the Road- Break the Code - Youth under Construction" reflected new, innovative and interactive forms of non-formal learning. It brought together experts and representatives from Lebanese academic and governmental institutions as well as from local and international non-profit organisations to discuss different viewpoints and perspectives on the potential of non-formal learning in Lebanon. The conference took into consideration the experience of 65 young people, activists and educators who participated at the first National Tools Fair in Lebanon (NTFL) which was held in June 2018. Through funds from the German Government, the NTFL was organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in collaboration with SALTO-YOUTH EUROMED within the framework of the GIZ Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme. Within the framework of the NTFL, twenty youths were trained on designing and developing educational tools. The young participants were coached and mentored for four months in order to develop their facilitation skills and improve the tools they have created. Six tools were selected to participate in the International Tool Fair that was organized in Croatia in November 2018. The NTFL is part of the International Tool Fair that is implemented in various countries, during which youth from Europe and Mediterranean Countries create and share their innovative ideas and tools for non-formal learning on different topics. The main objective of the NTFL is to give young people a chance to learn how to develop tools that can change their way of thinking and the perception of others in their society to foster social participation within their communities. Moreover, promoting non-formal education as an essential lifelong learning concept to ensure that youth acquire and maintain the skills and dispositions needed to adapt to change. ================= Agency : NNA Date : 2018-12-11 09:18:44
